Technical issues hamper Capitec’s app, online and cellular banking platforms

For 24 hours, Capitec customers can only use their bank cards for transactions because all of its banking channels are completely unavailable.

JOHANNESBURG – Capitec Bank said it is still experiencing an infrastructure issue on its central servers that support its banking channels.

The bank’s mobile app, online banking platforms and cell phones have been down for about 24 hours now.

For 24 hours, Capitec customers can only use their bank cards for transactions because all of its banking channels are completely unavailable.

The bank apologized for the inconvenience, saying it was absolutely committed to resolving the issue.

He said he had a team of tech experts looking into the issue.

Customers are encouraged to use their cards at Capitec ATMs.

But many have taken to social media to complain, demanding more answers from the bank.

The bank gave no indication as to when the system will be back.
