“Our strategy has proven its resilience and effectiveness in a challenging and unpredictable operating environment and we will continue to implement it in a planned manner – to sustainably grow in fiber-based packaging materials. In recent years we have strengthened our global market position in premium fresh fiber cartons and have responded to the growing demand for recyclable packaging materials which are increasingly replacing plastics in our core markets in Europe and North America. Our future growth is based on world-class resource efficiency, excellent cost competitiveness and a reduced carbon footprint of our products.

Metsä Board’s strong financial position, combined with high fiber and energy autonomy, provides stability for our business in a volatile operating environment. Our decision-making will continue to be guided by our financial and sustainability goals and the ambition to sustainably increase shareholder value with a long-term perspective. Our financial objectives of a minimum comparable return on capital employed of 12% and a maximum comparable net debt/EBITDA ratio of 2.5 remain unchanged. In line with our dividend policy, we aim to pay a dividend of at least 50% of our net profit.”
